My studio apartment is small and cute and full of sunlight. It's got all the amenities (bathtub, blender, beamer) + a nice, south-facing balcony for some outdoor fun.
Location is everything -- right at the intersection of Kreuzberg and Mitte. You can get basically anywhere you want to go in 20 minutes, including all da clubs, but the neighborhood itself is quiet and residential. There's a big grocery store around the corner, plus a handful of food and coffee options within walking distance. There's also plenty of green space nearby, from small little spots where you can have a picnic, to bigger, busier parks like Gleisdreieck and Tiergarten.
Transportation options are fantastic — the apartment is located between three subways stops (Checkpoint Charlie, Hallesches Tor, Moeckernbruecke) and three lines (U6, U7, U1). Note that these are all a 5-10 minute walk from my house, so not right in front of the door (something to bear in mind if you’re arriving with many bags). Easy bus access is also available, and — best of all — biking almost anywhere within central Berlin is 5-30 minutes. The city’s many bike-sharing, scooter-sharing, and drive-sharing services also always have many vehicles available in the direct vicinity of my apartment.
Please DO note that it is a residential neighborhood - an oasis of quiet within the heart of the city. That means you will not have a million restaurants, cafes, and bustling life right outside the front door. There are a couple basic necessities right outside the door (a little bakery, a few restaurants, and a few street food shops). And bustling neighborhoods are not far off (two third-wave hipster coffee shops are within very close walking distance, as are a handful of good restaurants). But when you walk out the door, things are quiet. There are also a bunch of grocery options near by, ranging from budget-option supermarket chains to food coops to organic stores.
As for tourist sites - Checkpoint Charlie is a few minutes away, though I wouldn’t recommend it. But there is also the Martin Gropius Bau and the Topography of Terror nearby; and a 5 minute bus ride (or 15 minute walk) away, there are all the museums at the Kulturform @ Potsdamer Platz. The Hau theaters are within 5 minute walking distance if that's your think. And Liquidrom is a five-minute walk away, if you need some postparty R&R.

The neighbors are chill and don't really care much about noise, but if your vibe is groups+chems, my place honestly isn't ideal (trust me, I throw those types of parties in my free time, and my place is just not the right vibe or space -- not least because it has floor-to-ceiling windows on one entire wall). If you want a cute homebase while you do other stuff in Berlin, though -- it's a good option.
Smoking only on the balcony. Pets and other guests may be ok, but we'd need to discuss first. And while the neighbors generally are never-call-the-police kind of people, this is a * residential* house, not a young-peoples-Berlin-party-pad.
Also: my WiFi is fast and reliable, but it is data-limited. Fine if you wanna watch a movie or two, but if you plan to be in bed an entire weekend bingeing TV, this is not the place for you.
