The ancient town of Youghal was occupied by the Danes and Normans and was also part of the great tract of land that was granted to Sir Walter Raleigh. His home, Myrtle Grove, still stands today and is open to the public. Tradition has it that it was here he planted the first potatoes. The main street is spanned by the beautiful Clock Gate built in 1777.

Beaches in East Cork, there are 3 beautiful beaches in the area of Ballycotton, Garryvoe and Youghal. Popular with water enthusiasts, surfers, kayakers and swimmers alike.
The old railway line from Waterford City to Dungarvan when completed is a 46km stretch of off-road cycling and walking trail which travels through time and nature across eleven bridges, three viaducts and through the atmospheric tunnel all the way from the river to the sea.
Along this route in Ireland's Ancient East is a Viking settlement, Norman Castles, medieval ruins, a famine workhouse, an old railway station and the heritage railway train still runs along part of the track at Suir Valley Railway.

Old Parish is located in the Gaeltacht na nDéise and uses and embraces the Irish language and its culture.
