Lyon: the GAY-stronomic Capital of the World

Say bonjour to Albin, a host from the French city of Lyon. Hosting is a big part of his life and it has taught him how to fully take advantage of his city. He shares his tips on hosting in this dynamic city, where French gastronomy is on a whole new level. Albin talks about the pleasures of living in the hidden gem of France, and how it is a great LGBTQ destination. Explore Lyon. Experience your pride.

What does hosting for the gay community mean to you and why did you become a host?

Hosting gay people is a way to be comfortable, and it makes our our guests feel more comfortable too. We can just be ourselves, without any fear of being judged. We are happy to host people from our community with whom we share something in common.

What is your level of interaction with your guests: do you hang out with them, do you show them around?

We generally share a glass of wine and spend some time together. Sometimes we go out, introduce our guests to our friends, or even have a party together at the apartment. We always spend good moments together.

Tell us about some interesting people you have met through misterb&b

We especially loved hosting a Canadian couple who came to visit. They joined my friends and I in a bar, we went out, we had a party at the apartment, we talked a lot, we had dinner in a restaurant... It was so cool.

In your opinion what attracts guests to Lyon?

Lyon is a great city! Generally, people don't come here for gay life, but for many different reasons, including the incredible food scene. Discover the city… it is a surprising place and a major hub in France.

What is your best memory of a guest?

We ended up hosting a party at the apartment with the Canadian couple, we laughed so much and made some great connections.

Do you feel more involved with the LGBTQ community since you started hosting?

I absolutely have the impression that I am more involved, because you really get the feeling that you’re part of a special community and you are able to help its members stay safe and welcome.

What's the nicest thing a guest has ever done for you? Do they ever bring gifts?

Some of them have brought different gifts, including a bottle of wine and special food from their home country...

Do you keep in touch with your guests or have any of them ever come back to stay with you again?

We have kept in touch with some of them, and we once welcomed two of them back.

How has hosting impacted your life?

We love hosting and we love meeting new people, especially people from abroad who can bring a piece of their own culture to our home.

Give us 3 reasons why you recommend hosting on misterb&b

-You share good moments and memories with cool people, which is lots of fun.

-It is a good excuse to clean your apartment regularly.

-You can earn some extra money.

Why should a guest stay with you ?

The apartment is ideally located in Lyon, as we have many shops in the street and the city's downtown is very close by.

Our apartment is perfect to host in, as people generally love it for the atmosphere and decoration.

I think people love their time here because they can feel how we love doing it.
