Budapest Gay District

Budapest is divided into two, with the river annexing two distinct quarters: Buda and Pest. While gay Budapest is yet to have its own designated gayborhood, most LGBTQ life can be found on the Pest side of the river, within the city’s ring road. This includes the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th districts of the city.      

In terms of the best gay bars in Budapest, Why Not Cafe & Bar is a crowd favorite. Just a block back from the River Danube, Why Not offers karaoke, games nights, and live music - oh and of course plenty of new boys to meet. 

If dancing is on your mind, and you are looking for the top gay clubs in Budapest, AlterEgo is a solid option. This is a great weekend club venue, that attracts plenty of party punters from the local gay community. On Thursdays, however, there is also the option of doing karaoke here. Otherwise, if you happen to be in town at the right time you may get the chance to attend Garçons, a monthly underground party that draws a very attractive crowd indeed.
