If you’re looking to do some serious shopping in gay Vancouver, you’ve come to the right place. Vancouver’s best shopping is found Downtown on Robson and Alberni Streets. Other popular shopping locales include Gastown and South Granville.
Robson and Alberni Streets both carry all of your favorite international luxury brands like Gucci, Ferragamo, and Louis Vuitton, but just a few blocks from Alberni is a Vancouver must: Holt Renfrew, Canada’s take on Saks Fifth Avenue. This department store carries a wide array of luxury brands, but most unique are its Canadian fashion brands.
Due to Vancouver’s prominent outdoor and fitness cultures, major brands Arc’Teryx and Lululemon Athletica both have their flagship stores Downtown. From yoga pants to mountaineering jackets, these Canadians have you covered for adventures in and out of the city.
One of the best men’s shops in town is Brooklyn Clothing, which specializes in the Vancouver aesthetic; a blend of slim-fit modern wear with outdoorsy, lumbersexual accents. Brands like Filson, Nudie, and Red Wing are just a few examples.
The best underwear, Speedos, and jockstraps can be found at Topdrawers in Davie Village. This shop has been spicing up gay Vancouver’s underwear drawers since 1992.
Little Sisters Bookstore and Art Emporium is perhaps Vancouver’s most famous store. Open since 1983, this little bookshop fought the Canadian government all the way to the Supreme Court in 2000 over “obscene materials.” To this day it remains the best place to find queer literature and art.
“Joy replaces shame” at Womyn’s Ware, a female-owned and operated adult toy store that has everything you need (as well as a few new sexy items you didn’t know you needed!)
