Colonia Escandón was founded at the beginning of the 19th century in farm land that belonged to great haciendas. This neighborhood was part of the Hacienda de la Condesa, having been part of the Escandón family, who later developed the area. It was home of wealthy bourgeoises that arrived during the Porfiriato time, and proof of that is the art decó that can still be appreciated in many houses, typical architecture style of Condesa and Roma neighborhoods.
