I have only recently bought and renovated this flat in Rome for when I live there. Being a seasoned traveler I really spent time renovating with the needs of other travelers in mind. There is central heating for winter and air con for summer, Rome gets super hot. Washing machine, induction stove, microwave a kick-ass shower (you might miss out on sites cause you hang out in there too long) and Netflix because sometimes, you just want to sit and do nothing. I designed a 70's bedroom complete with a death star hanging light. A comfy couch that sleeps one or two people who really like each other and we are right in the thick of everything. I love this area, I grew up here and I saw it changing from a no-go zone to a hub for artists and out of the ordinary people.
I am often in the US for work so there may be someone else there to greet you. Having said that, I am always one phone call, text, email away. I love my city and I love my area so I am totally happy to chat to you regardless of your intention to book my place.
I grew up here and I know this area like the back of my hand. I have compiled a list of my favourite restaurants in this area. Check out the guidebook section below. You could stay in Trastevere or Monti Piazza di Spagna, they are all excellent options for the tourist sights and for quick sight seeing but if you want to see Rome through its citizens' eyes and eat your way around it like a Roman, you ought to stay here. When I travel, one of my major occupations, I like hanging in cafes and restaurants and talking to the locals. I like sightseeing and you can do that from Pigneto easily, but by staying here you will experience Rome like no other person can by staying in a hotel in Piazza Navona. I saw this neighbourhood flourish over the years with artists graffiti and little cafes and restaurants. It's lively, things are open until late at night, you will soon find out this is a gem in a city like Rome, and you have everything you need right at your doorstep. There are excellent supermarkets within walking distance, the best pizza place on the planet ( no joke I have tried lots), and amazing coffee and croissants. Download the app "muoversi a Roma ATAC" for bus timetables. Enter the bus stop code that you find at your stop and the app will tell you how far your bus is.
From the house you are three minutes away from the subway LINEA C and 3 minutes away from the overground train. Metro LINEA C is good if you want to go San Giovanni. From the last stop LODI it's a 7 minute walk to LINEA A that will take you to the major tourist sites. OVERGROUND TRAIN Don't judge it by its looks, will be your best friend. Hop on it and ten minutes later you are at Termini station where you can walk down to the Coliseum ( 15 minutes away) or hop on the LINEA A at Piazza Vittorio to go to the major sites. I will give you detailed info on how to get there and where to go once you book. BUSES Catch the 81 Bus for a scenic route into town. Get to the Bocca della Verita'/ Isola Tiberina 20 mins Coliseum/Piazza Venezia 25 minutes St Peter's Square 40 minutes Or just sit on the bus all the way to the bus Terminal (St Peter's) for a scenic route. Download the app "muoversi a Roma ATAC" for bus timetables. Enter the bus stop code that you find at your stop and the app will tell you how far your bus is. TAXI If you want to call a Taxi from the house call Radio Taxi 3570 CAR You can download the app car2go and rent a car by the minute at 24c per minute. This is really good if you want to go to the centre of Rome where normal cars aren't allowed. You can park it anywhere you like once you're done and pick another one later.
