This building, an ancient salt warehouse, is located within the Manifattura delle Arti, a crossroads with the Cineteca di Bologna, Departments of Music and Performing Arts and Communication Sciences of the University of Bologna, MAMbo. Alla Salara is home to the Cassino LGBTI Center, the longest-running Italian LGBTI association as well as Bologna's Arci Gay presidium, and numerous other LGBT associations.

Place par excellence symbol of the long presence in the Bolognese territory of the LGBTI community. Bologna was the first city in Italy to create a public symbol of Memory of the Nazi-Fascist persecution against gays, lesbians and trans, bloody and for many years untold. Here is the monument, the first to appear on Italian territory and one of the three existing officers in Europe, consisting of a plaque, an upside-down pink marble triangle, to remember what the homosexuals were forced to wear pinned on the tunic in the death camps . The project is by the architect Corrado Levi. Every year, on January 27th and April 25th, it hosts a commemorative ceremony.
