State capital of Victoria, Melbourne is the second largest urban agglomeration after Sydney. She was repeatedly elected as one of the most easy going. It consists in fact of ideal living conditions: mild climate, security, cost of living affordable and low population density. Melbourne was designed in order that each family can have its own garden. The city is large and green. No wonder they nicknamed "the garden city of Australia." Melbourne is nice and rich history: its architecture, mix of Victorian and contemporary recalls the prosperous era of the "gold rush" that made the town a very rich city.
Melbourne is the capital "sport and culture" of Australia and a center of reference for live music. The atmosphere is ideal for partying and the gay community will appreciate the Mid Summa Festival mid January. It begins with a carnival followed by a very big night with top DJs and exhibitions, concerts and shows. The festival is all day at the rendezvous near Collingwood, the gay district of Melbourne but St Kilda and South Yarra.
