Sydney, otherwise known as Australia's Emerald City, is considered the capital of gay life in the Southern Hemisphere. This melting pot of cultures is a cosmopolitan, relaxed, entertaining, and light-hearted destination with a climate of endless sunny days similar to that of Southern California.

Situated on one of the most beautiful harbors in the world with its spectacular views, Sydney is the oldest city in Australia and one of the largest gay cities and urban areas. It offers some of the highest rated restaurants, beaches, museums and nightlife in Australia. Gay Sydney is a favorite destination for gay travelers from Australia and all over the world. Gay visitors often are seen in large numbers at Bondi Beach for sun, surf, and people-watching, Harbor Bridge for its views, the Rocks to learn more about area history and the famous Sydney Opera, the most iconic landmark in the entire city.

Sydney is a melting pot of cultures where travelers and natives frolic at the famous beaches by day and the alluring club scene by evening. The gay places are scattered throughout the city but especially around Oxford Street in Darlinghurst or in the district of Kings Cross, the festive neighborhood of the city where most of the nightclubs and gay bars are located.

Gay Sydney is also home to one of the largest LGBT events in the world : Sydney Mardi Gras! The biggest gay party of the year in Sydney takes places in February and March, with the Sydney Mardi Gras parade attracting thousands of visitors from around the world. There are other gay parties and festivals during the rest of the year. At about mid-winter the Sydney Leather Pride event takes place while Sydney Pride Festival is normally scheduled in mid-June.

Gay Sydney is a captivating destination any time of the year.
