Manchester is one of the most gay-friendly cities in the UK, together with London and Brighton. Home of Alan Turing, the city claims to be the birth place of computers, Rolls Royce motors and the concept of sales! Manchester is also home to the Stone Roses and the Smiths and a mecca for every soccer fan (you should visit the National Football Museum).

Gay Manchester is also famous for its gay neighborhood: Canal Street. The (gay) Village became famous in the 1990s with the original version of Queer As Folk, the British TV series. The Village hosts nearly sixty gay establishments, bars, hotels, restaurants, shops, gay saunas etc. on just a few streets.

Manchester is proud of its industrial heritage. The red brick walls are a vivid testimony of this heroic past. In recent years, Manchester has dramatically changed and you can now admire a very modern and contemporary city center with trendy bars and  hype restaurants. With a great cultural scene, a big concentration of students and universities, Manchester is really a big city feeling like a small village.

Manchester's annual gay pride is one of the most spectacular in the world. Manchester Pride is the largest gay event in Great Britain. The gay festival lasts for 10 days in August and ends with the "Big Weekend": 4 days of non-stop parties which attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Manchester gay Village.
