Gay Miami is iconic on the LGBT travel scene, and for good reason. It’s hard to come across beaches more lively than Miami’s infamous stretch of white sand revelry. Azure waters beside gay beaches and modern high rises attract year-round visitors looking for a cosmopolitan escape in the tropics.
The top gay Miami neighborhood is South Beach. Major streets of interest are Lincoln Road and First Street. Lincoln Road has large sidewalks for visitors to stroll along and catch the sun. Shopping in the surrounding small boutiques is popular during the day, but South Beach boasts dozens of restaurants, hotels and nightclubs that pop off at night.
Indeed, gay Miami visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to all the seductive nightclubs and bars that are iconic to the city. Top clubs include Twist, a huge complex in South Beach, Score and Club Azucar, a Latino club in Coral Gables. The Palace is another hot spot to check out, with good food, cocktails and amazing drag shows right next to the gay beach. Balans restaurant and bar is also something of a landmark in the city, especially among gay men.
Of course, topping up your tan is also something of a priority on a Florida vacation. Head to the 12th Street Gay Beach – the main gay Miami beach. Also, Miami is only a three-hour drive from another gay paradise, Key West, and 30-minute drive from Fort Lauderdale, one of the gayest destinations in the States.
Plan your tropical trip to gay Miami around some of the biggest LGBT events of the year, such as the White Party Miami in late November, the Winter Beach Party in March, and the Miami Beach Gay Pride in early April. And, if you come in winter, plan on hitting the Winter Party, which includes one of the largest beach parties in the world!
