Twist is one of the most iconic gay clubs in Miami Beach and a genuine institution of South Beach nightlife. Located at 1057 Washington Avenue, a few blocks from Ocean Drive and the popular gay beach around 12th Street, this sprawling two-story venue has been keeping Miami’s LGBTQ+ crowd dancing for more than three decades. While fashionable clubs come and go faster than a holiday romance, Twist has remained firmly in place—and still attracts a lively mix of gay locals, international visitors and handsome vacationers looking to make the most of Miami after dark.

Calling Twist a single bar would be seriously underselling it. The club contains seven bars, three dance floors and several rooms, each with a different atmosphere and musical identity. Guests can move between house and electronic music, pop hits, Latin rhythms, outdoor spaces and more intimate corners without ever leaving the building. It is effectively a mini gay nightlife district under one roof, which makes the venue particularly appealing when a group of friends cannot agree on what kind of evening they want. At Twist, you can simply change rooms rather than change friends.

The atmosphere evolves throughout the day. Twist opens in the afternoon, when its daily happy hour draws a more relaxed crowd for early drinks and conversation. The venue becomes considerably busier later in the evening, especially after 10 p.m., when the full club comes alive with DJs, dancing and go-go performers. Fridays and Saturdays are usually the most crowded nights. Arriving before midnight on weekends is recommended if you would rather spend your evening on the dance floor than waiting in line outside.

Music varies from room to room and according to the DJ schedule. The Latin area is an especially popular feature, bringing reggaeton, salsa and other Latin sounds to a crowd that reflects Miami’s multicultural character. Elsewhere, expect pop, house, electronic music and familiar club anthems. The multiple bars also make it easier to order a drink without abandoning the evening’s most promising flirtation for too long.

Twist’s best-known motto is “Never a Cover, Always a Groove.” General admission is normally free, including on weekends, although policies can always change for exceptional events. The club also runs a daily two-for-one happy hour on all drinks from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Miami Beach cocktails can be generous, so remember that “two for one” is a promotion, not a personal challenge.

The crowd is predominantly gay and male, but the venue describes itself as an LGBTQ+ space and welcomes a broader mix of queer guests and allies. Dress is generally more relaxed than at some of Miami’s glamorous velvet-rope nightclubs. A stylish T-shirt, shorts or jeans usually fits the South Beach mood, although guests should still arrive appropriately dressed and follow any current entry rules. Twist is strictly limited to adults aged 21 and over, and valid government-issued photo identification is required.

Twist opens seven days a week from 3 p.m. until 5 a.m. The entire club opens at 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, while some rooms may operate differently earlier in the evening.
