Did you know that Gay Dallas ranks in the top 10 destinations for LGBTQ summer travel? According to SCRUFF, a gay social networking and dating app, the sprawling metropolis offers the best of the southern charm paired with a modern and forward-thinking attitude. Dallas not only has one of the largest gay populations in the USA, but it is also the hometown of the famous LGBTQ mega-church: The Cathedral of Hope. This is where Texas' first Gay Pride Parade as well as where the first gay activists in the 1980s occurred.

In 2014, Out Traveler voted Dallas' Oak Lawn district as the number one gayborhood in the country and in 2018, Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood was honored as the state's first historical marker for the LGBTQ community. Aside from the city’s famous football team - the Cowboys, its gayborhood a.k.a The Strip, and its most talked about annual Pride Parade, the Big D offers plenty of “steers and queers” for gay travelers looking for a great time. Cedar Springs Road is considered the heart of Oak Lawn, offering various gay bars, gay clubs, and gay saunas catered to the LGBTQ community. Most venues are also within walking distance, meaning it'll be a cinch to do some bar hopping.

The city is known to have the queeniest queens, you’ll surely discover why they don’t call it Dallitude for nothing. There’s a diverse style of nightclubs for every taste. From gay bars to lesbian bars, gay Dallas has plenty of options for the LGBTQ community to have a good time in this Texan city. Kick start your evening with some live music, then discover the many bars, restaurants, and clubs of charming gay area, Oak Lawn. If you want a true country feel, go to Round-Up Saloon. For a dance club vibe complete with drag shows, check out Station 4 and The Rose Room. Otherwise for a laid-back gay bar with karaoke, give Woody's a try. You can also enjoy live drag performances here too.

Dallas Gay Pride packs a punch, and is held each year at the beginning of June. The first Dallas Pride started in 1972, and has since grown into a hugely popular annual event. Experience your pride with an incredible pride parade, along with plenty of gay pride parties and cultural events happening over the weekend.

Want to experience something else other than the over-the-top gay dance clubs, this city excels at gastropubs, wine bars, crafty bar grub like the Small Brewpub where you can enjoy homemade brews and for pool tables and outdoor fun, try JR's Bar & Grill, Sue Ellen's, Alexandre's, or Woody's. For an extensive selection of wine and gourmet food, head over to Bouchon 1314, and be sure to stop in at The Tradewinds Social Club, a popular southern feel dive bar offering cheap booze and drunken karaoke.
