Do you love eating Chinese dumplings at your favorite restaurant? Why not learn how to make them yourself? In this San Francisco cooking class, you'll learn how to make classic Shanghaineese dumplings from scratch and eat at a three course meal in the ultimate dumpling dinner party!
The night will start with a blind tasting of my favorite soy sauces to understand umami a bit better. Next, we'll do a demo of a braised pork belly in soy sauce, a classic dish that will combine principles of slow cooking and balanced flavors, using locally sourced, organic pork.
You'll then make your own dumplings from scratch. This includes kneading dough, rolling out dumpling skins, and learning the art of pleating dumplings around a mouthwatering pork stuffing.
Once you've created your own batch of delicious dumplings, it's time to sit down and enjoy the dinner party. Savor every bite of your delectable dumplings, along with a pork belly braise. We'll finish with a red bean rice ball dessert ... you'll be in a food coma at the end of the experience!
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking to try something new, this dumpling dinner party is a must-try experience in San Francisco!
(For non-pork eaters, tofu braise and veggie stuffing option upon request with 48h notice)

I've grew up in a food-centric culture: Whenever I sat in my mom's kitchen, she’d make dumplings while sharing memories of her own mom and grandma. I soon realized my generation was missing something important -- the handmade techniques and traditions passed down through the ages. She went on to open a Chinese restaurant with my dad, where I was raised and where I learned how to make dishes featured in this class!
Today, I'm passionate about food, cooking, and experiences, and can't wait to share with you. I’ve trained at French, Italian and Basque cooking schools, as well as locally with Chef Olivia Wu, who I’ve partnered with to teach her Food and Flavor Fundamentals course in Half Moon Bay.
