“Seamless transport to and from the island, very clear guidance, and a thoughtfully designed accommodation. We will definitely be returning.”
HOW YOUR ARRIVAL WORKS:
When you arrive, we meet you at the mainland parking area and bring you and your belongings to Grant Island in our pontoon boat.
We guide you to the cabin, explain the bathroom and common areas, give you an overview of everything you need, and provide an orientation for the electric boats.
The boat ride from the mainland parking area to Grant Island takes approximately 5 minutes.
We remain available throughout your stay to answer questions, provide transportation assistance, and help whenever needed.
ABOUT THE CABIN:
Stabbin Cabin #2 has a queen bed and an epic view over Brantingham Lake through its large 5-foot by 8-foot picture window.
The motorized projector screen doubles as a curtain over the picture window. Lower it from bed using the remote control and turn the cabin into your own cinematic viewing space.
The entertainment system includes Roku with streaming apps, Xbox 360 and a Guitar Hero setup.
A Murphy-style dining table and benches fold down to create a convenient indoor dining and food-preparation area.
The compact kitchenette includes an air fryer, microwave, hot plate, hot-water kettle, toaster, coffee maker, filtered drinking-water system, mini fridge and freezer.
We provide plates, bowls, cookware, utensils and other basics. If you need something and we have it available, just ask.
Beside the bed is a charging platform with connections for many commonly used phones, along with wireless charging.
Curtains and room-darkening shades are provided for privacy and for guests who prefer to sleep later in the morning.
BATHROOM AND SHOWER:
There is no bathroom inside Stabbin Cabin #2.
The bathroom and shower building is approximately 50 feet from the cabin entrance.
The toilet and sink room and the shower room have separate entrances, allowing them to be used independently. Each door has a vacant/occupied sign, and the shower has an interior privacy latch.
The bathroom and shower building is shared with guests staying in:
• Stabbin Cabin #1 • The Floater Houseboat • Waterfront Glamping
The cabin entrance door locks. We show guests how to operate the cabin lock and shower privacy latch during check-in.
The outdoor heated rinse shower is also shared.
Because the bathroom building is near the cabin, normal voices, water use or shower sounds may occasionally be heard.
Please contact us immediately if you have any difficulty operating either lock or using the facilities so we can assist while you are here.
ELECTRIC BOATS AND ISLAND TRANSPORTATION:
Two electric boats are assigned to and shared between Stabbin Cabin #1 and Stabbin Cabin #2:
• One 6-seat electric boat • One rowboat with an electric motor and oars
After your orientation, the boats may be used for leisurely lake exploring, fishing, and transportation between Grant Island and the mainland parking area.
Exclusive use of either boat is not guaranteed because both boats are shared between the two Stabbin Cabins.
Electric-boat use after dark is not recommended.
If you do not want to operate an electric boat, we remain available to provide pontoon-boat rides between the island and mainland.
Boat access is subject to weather, charging, maintenance, safe lake conditions, and compliance with all life-jacket, docking, charging and operating instructions.
SEASONAL NATURAL LAKE COLD PLUNGE:
During Grant Island’s cooler spring and fall seasons, Brantingham Lake becomes our natural cold plunge.
A water thermometer at the designated entry area displays the current lake temperature so you can see how cold the water is before entering.
The natural cold plunge is typically available from April through early June and again from late September through the November 1 seasonal close.
Availability depends on current weather, water, dock and safety conditions.
This is a natural lake-water experience, not a dedicated or temperature-controlled cold-plunge tub.
SWIMMING, FIRES AND STARGAZING:
The beach area has a full-size lakeside diving board and is a wonderful place for swimming and floating. We provide floats and beach toys for guests to enjoy.
There is also a lakeside fire pit for evening campfires. We do not supply clean, dry-cut firewood, but several nearby stores sell it.
Grant Island’s dark Adirondack skies make the island an amazing place for stargazing. Families of loons can frequently be heard calling across Brantingham Lake in the evening.
ADVENTURE RENTALS:
Grant Island operates a boat and adventure-rental business.
Optional rentals and experiences may include:
• Pontoon boats • Jet Skis • ATVs • UTVs and side-by-sides • Kayaks • SUPs • Paddleboats • Fishing equipment • Sailboats • Hosted wakeboarding • Hosted waterskiing • Hosted tubing
Grant Island lodging guests receive 20% off eligible rentals.
You will receive information about available rentals, upgrades and activities after your reservation is confirmed.
GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING:
Stabbin Cabin #2 and its private balcony are private to your reservation.
Grant Island also has other separately reserved accommodations and a seasonal management residence. Unless the entire island is booked, other guests may be present and certain island facilities and recreation areas are shared.
This stay is ideal for guests who want a memorable and adventurous Adirondack island experience.
It is not the right fit for someone who requires an in-cabin bathroom or exclusive use of the entire island.
Guests looking for exclusive island occupancy should consider our Entire Island stay when available.
Please review Guest access and Other things to note for complete details about the bathroom, hot tub, electric boats, parking, pets, waivers, cold plunge and island layout.
OTHER GRANT ISLAND STAYS:
If you like this spot, you may also love our other unique Grant Island accommodations. These are especially useful when friends or family want to stay nearby.
• Stabbin Cabin #1, sleeps 2 • Waterfront Glamping, sleeps 3 • The Floater Houseboat, sleeps 2 • Grant Island Main Cottage, sleeps 8 • Entire Grant Island, sleeps 17
For groups of up to five, ask about reserving Stabbin Cabin #2 and Waterfront Glamping together when both are available.

Certain accommodations, balconies, docks and marked areas are private to other guests or management. Please respect posted signs and property boundaries.
Please review the listing photographs and property-layout images so you understand the cabin’s location before booking. Grant Island is a privately owned two-acre island on public Brantingham Lake in the Adirondacks.
This is a real boat-in island experience with fishing, swimming, boating, campfires, stargazing, seasonal natural cold-water immersion, and access to the surrounding Tug Hill and Adirondack region.
Brantingham Lake itself is a public lake. Other property owners and recreational boaters may be on the water.
Grant Island has multiple separately booked accommodations and a seasonal management residence. This reservation provides private use of Stabbin Cabin #2 and its balcony, not exclusive use of the entire island.
On the nearby mainland, you will find two popular restaurants and bars, a local general store, and access to hiking, horseback riding, state parks, wineries and other regional activities.
Because the property is located on an island, we recommend bringing the food, clothing and personal supplies you expect to need during your stay. You do not need to own a boat to stay on Grant Island.
Guests park at our designated mainland parking area. We meet you there, help load your belongings, and bring you to Grant Island on our pontoon boat.
The boat ride takes approximately 5 minutes.
After arriving, we help you get settled and provide an orientation covering:
• Your cabin and private balcony • The cabin entrance lock • The bathroom and shower building • Common island areas • Electric boat operation • Docking and charging • Life jackets • Water and boating safety rules

FIREWOOD:
The island has a lakeside fire pit, but we do not supply clean, dry-cut firewood.

OUTDOOR ISLAND CONDITIONS:
