Tend the private wood-fired sauna, let the heat build, then take the cold plunge and feel everything reset; repeat, with the process itself doing the slowing-down. Between rounds, the barbecue, a drink under a wide sky, the birds over the grass. Inside, a king bed faces the natural surroundings, with underfloor heating, rainfall shower and a kitchenette for unhurried meals. Sleep is deep here; the morning brings sunrise straight through the glass.

Palôd, for the island’s puffins, is named, like its neighbours, for the wildlife of Anglesey, with the coast and Eryri close when the day asks for more.

Menai Bridge brings an appetite for Anglesey’s seafood; the local lobster is quietly famous. Across the bridge, Eryri (Snowdonia) opens up. Yr Wyddfa, glacial lakes and mountain paths.
