Hispalis

Club Hispalis is the largest and best-known gay sauna in San José, a men-only club near the city's gay center, about a long block from the National Museum. Spread over multiple levels, it offers a heated pool, jacuzzi, dry sauna, and two steam rooms, a bar and snack area, lockers, a labyrinth, darkrooms, and private cabins, all kept notably clean. It draws a varied, attractive crowd of mostly Costa Rican and Latin American men with a good mix of ages, and like most saunas in the country, it is liveliest in the late afternoon and early evening rather than late at night, with naked days on Wednesdays (and often Fridays/Sundays). Take an Uber, and bring cash, since foreign cards aren't accepted.
