Caffe bar Kolaž

-
Ulica Milana Amruša 11, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia

Kolaž is one of Zagreb's original and best-loved gay-friendly bars, a small, arty basement spot in the city center, a short walk from the main square and around the corner from Hotpot. Decked out in wry, kitsch-but-cool style, red brick, a little solar system of mirrorballs above the bar and a honeycomb-lit seating nook, it's a coffee stop for local office workers by day and a sophisticated bohemian hangout by night, filling up with an easygoing, mixed gay-straight crowd. The soundtrack roams happily from indie rock to synth-pop, electro-disco and exotica; the spirits selection is a treat (try a local ruta brandy for the road), and the drinks stay cheap and the welcome warm. Owner Željko Drmić keeps it genuine and unpretentious, equally good for an afternoon break from sightseeing or pre-club drinks. Weekend nights can be a tight squeeze, in the best way.
