Gay parties & gay events in Dallas

Marc Dedonder
I have tracked Dallas gay parties for misterb&b across many trips to the Lone Star State. Dallas in 2026 has one of the densest gayborhoods in America - Cedar Springs Road in Oak Lawn ("The Strip") packs more than a dozen LGBTQ+ bars, clubs, restaurants and shops into a walkable half-mile. Institutional anchors: Round-Up Saloon (3912 Cedar Springs, legendary country-western gay dance hall - karaoke 6 nights, free dance lessons Mon/Tue/Thu), Sue Ellen's (Texas's oldest lesbian bar - 35+ years, 2 stories with Lipstick Lounge, Vixin Lounge, dance floor, game room) and JR's Bar & Grill (Cedar Springs video bar institution since 1980). TWO Pride events: Dallas Pride Saturday June 6, 2026 (first-ever nighttime parade through Downtown + all-day festival across 4 parks) and Pride in Dallas September 13-20, 2026 on Cedar Springs (Michael Doughman Parade Sunday Sept 20 2 PM + festival at Reverchon Park 1-5 PM). For accommodation in Oak Lawn or near Cedar Springs, book early via misterb&b gay BnBs Dallas or misterb&b gay hotels Dallas. 🏳️🌈

Dallas (~1.3 million in the city, ~7.5 million metro) has one of the densest LGBTQ+ scenes in the US, anchored by Cedar Springs Road ("The Strip") in the Oak Lawn neighbourhood - more than a dozen gay bars, clubs, restaurants and shops in a walkable half-mile. Institutional anchors: Round-Up Saloon at 3912 Cedar Springs (the legendary country-western gay dance hall - karaoke 6 nights a week, free dance lessons Monday, Tuesday and Thursday), Sue Ellen's (named after the Dallas TV show character, sister bar to JR's, Texas's oldest lesbian bar - 35+ years with dance floor, Lipstick Lounge, Vixin Lounge for live bands, patios, game room), and JR's Bar & Grill (Cedar Springs institution since 1980 - classic video bar). Yearly peaks: Dallas Pride Saturday June 6, 2026 (Downtown - first-ever nighttime parade plus an all-day festival across four parks) and the historic Pride in Dallas September 13-20 on Cedar Springs - Michael Doughman Parade Sunday September 20 at 2 PM + festival at Reverchon Park 1-5 PM.
Annual Dallas gay events 2026
Dallas has TWO annual Pride events in 2026 - a rare double on the US calendar. Dallas Pride Saturday June 6, 2026 (Dallas Gay Pride) takes over Downtown Dallas with the first-ever nighttime parade through the city centre plus an all-day festival across four parks - a fresh format introduced for 2026. And Pride in Dallas, September 13-20, 2026 is the historic Cedar Springs week of Pride events, with the Michael Doughman Parade on Sunday September 20 at 2 PM (newly renamed to honour the long-time Dallas Pride director), plus the festival at Reverchon Park (3505 Maple Ave) 1-5 PM featuring Dog Parade, vendors, games and live music. Year-round recurring fixtures include nightly karaoke at Round-Up Saloon, free country dance lessons Mon/Tue/Thu at Round-Up, weekly drag at Sue Ellen's and video-bar programming at JR's. Book accommodation 2-3 months ahead for either Pride weekend.

Past iconic Dallas gay parties
Dallas's LGBTQ+ scene has remarkable durability. JR's Bar & Grill has been a Cedar Springs institution since 1980 - one of the longest-running gay bars in Texas. Sue Ellen's has been operating for over 35 years - Texas's oldest lesbian bar and one of the few remaining in the entire US. Round-Up Saloon has survived fires, renovations, and smoking bans across decades to remain the legendary country-western gay dance hall. The Pride in Dallas Cedar Springs week is being directed in 2026 with the newly-renamed Michael Doughman Parade honouring the long-time Dallas Pride director. US-wide same-sex marriage (Obergefell v. Hodges, June 2015) catalysed expansion of Pride attendance across Texas cities.
