George V

The George V is the reference for gay Grenoble, the only gay, lesbian, and friendly club in the Isère and a genuine local institution that, 30 years on, has never lost its momentum. Renovated and reopened in 2013, it spreads over two floors with two distinct moods: L'Absolu, a club-and-retro room where 80s, 90s, 2000s and current hits chain together for deliciously kitsch, carpet-dancing nights, and the G5 upstairs, dedicated to electro, house and clubbing, with a warm VIP corner watched over by the benevolent gaze of George, plus a dance floor with a cage for those who like to show off their moves. Guests drift freely between the two all night. Warm, easygoing, and impertinent, drawing an eclectic, intergenerational crowd of gay guys, lesbians, bi, trans, allies, and the simply curious, it's Grenoble's go-to for an open-minded weekend night out.
