Le Plan B

Le Plan B is the heart of LGBTQ+ La Rochelle, a genuine institution of the local queer community tucked just steps from the Vieux-Port on the restaurant-lined rue Saint-Jean du Pérot. Part café-brasserie, part music bar, it's warm and welcoming from the first step through the door, with a smiling team (Bruno and Lulu) who make solo visitors and groups alike feel right at home. The atmosphere swings from calm and convivial for a chat over a house cocktail or a shared aperitif board to full-on festive when the nightly karaoke gets going, which regulars swear is a must. In a city with no designated gay quarter, it's the scene's essential meeting point, so much so that locals advise turning up early before it fills up.
