Triebwerk

-
Urbanstr 64 (at Leinestr, U-Hermannplatz), 10967, Berlin, Germany

Club Triebwerk is a long-established gay cruising club located at Urbanstraße 64, close to Hermannplatz and the border between Berlin’s Kreuzberg and Neukölln districts. This men-only venue offers a very different experience from the polished cocktail bars and enormous techno temples for which the German capital is famous. Triebwerk is smaller, darker and considerably more direct: visitors come to meet other men, have a drink and explore their desires in an environment built specifically for consensual encounters between adults. The atmosphere is unapologetically sexual, so this is one Berlin address where nobody needs to pretend they came merely to admire the interior design.

The venue combines an air-conditioned bar and lounge with dedicated cruising and play areas. Facilities associated with Triebwerk include darkened spaces, private cabins, video booths, a sling, a St Andrew’s cross and other fetish equipment. The precise layout and availability of individual areas may evolve, but the club’s identity remains firmly focused on cruising. Condoms are normally available, although bringing your own preferred protection and lubricant is always sensible. As everywhere, nudity, a particular dress code or simply entering a cruising club never amounts to automatic consent. A clear “no” must be accepted immediately, while discretion regarding other guests should be treated as part of the house rules.

Triebwerk is particularly known for its themed nights. Underwear and naked events form an important part of the weekly program, including the recurring After Work Sex party traditionally held on Wednesdays. Dress requirements can vary according to the evening, and guests may be expected to leave most or all of their clothes at the entrance. Some nights allow underwear, while others are designed around complete nudity or a more specific fetish theme. Check the current announcement before arriving rather than relying entirely on a general description. Berlin is wonderfully tolerant of creative outfits, but turning up in street clothes when everyone else has already checked theirs at the door may not be the fashion statement you intended.

The crowd is usually composed of gay and bisexual men across a range of ages, bodies and personal styles. Triebwerk is often associated with a mature, local and relatively unpretentious clientele, although the mix changes depending on the day, theme, season and number of visitors in Berlin. It is not primarily a dance club, and travelers expecting a vast crowd, international DJs or a Berghain-scale production may find the experience comparatively intimate. Its appeal lies instead in its straightforward character: a neighborhood cruising bar where conversation at the counter and adult play can coexist without excessive ceremony. Smoking may be permitted in parts of the venue, something sensitive visitors should consider.

The club is within walking distance of Hermannplatz, served by the U7 and U8 underground lines as well as several buses and night buses. Its commonly published schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Sunday from 4 p.m. until midnight, with Monday and Thursday usually closed. Admission is currently advertised at €20, including €10 in minimum drink consumption, but prices, events and hours can change. Club Triebwerk remains open in 2026. Check the latest program, respect the dress code and every guest’s boundaries, and arrive ready for one of Berlin’s most direct and proudly unpolished men-only nightlife experiences.
