Mikri Avra, "little Avra," is the warm, family-run successor to Avra, a beloved gay-popular table that ran in Mykonos Town from 1999 until 2021. Chef Nikos and his son Stathis have brought the breeze back in a smaller, more personal form on the lively Lakka square, a spirited whitewashed corner of Chóra just off the tourist rush, with candlelight on a pebbled terrace under an olive tree. The cooking is honest, generous Greek and Mediterranean home food, moussaka, feta saganaki, shrimp with ouzo and tomato, fresh Aegean fish, and mezedes, from the same hands and recipes that made the original a favorite. Walk-in only like a traditional taverna, it's an unpretentious, welcoming spot in the heart of gay-friendly Mykonos Town.
