La Guarida

La Guarida is a cozy, creative café-bar and cultural space in the heart of Tulum Town, a homely spot that feels like a little bar in Barcelona dropped into the Caribbean, with a rooftop terrace, mezcal and house-made rum, vinyl nights, live jazz, folk and blues bands, screenings, workshops and board games. It isn't a dedicated gay bar, but it's well loved by Tulum's LGBTQ+ community and gay-friendly by reputation, drawing a genuinely mixed, no-dress-code crowd of artists, digital nomads, locals and travelers, where it's easy to strike up a conversation (and the odd flirt) when the live bands get into the groove. Relaxed, cultural, and welcoming, it's a great downtown spot for a glass of wine, a cheese plate, and good music, away from the beach-club scene.
