Supperclub

-
Singel 460, 1017, Amsterdam, Netherlands

SUPPER, formerly and still widely known as Supperclub Amsterdam, is one of the city’s most theatrical dining and nightlife experiences. Located inside the historic Odeon building at Singel 460, this extravagant venue brings together a restaurant, dinner show, cocktail bar and nightclub under one roof. It is famous for replacing conventional dining tables with large white beds, inviting guests to remove their shoes, recline and enjoy a multi-course menu while performers, dancers, DJs and visual artists transform the room around them. Subtle it is not — but Amsterdam already has plenty of sensible restaurants for anyone who wants to sit upright and behave.

Supperclub began in Amsterdam in the 1990s and developed an international reputation for experimental hospitality. The original location eventually moved to the former Odeon theatre, a seventeenth-century building whose historic architectural details now contrast with changing lights, projections and the venue’s signature all-white interior. The experience is designed as an evolving evening rather than a simple meal. Dinner gradually gives way to music and performances, and later the restaurant becomes a nightclub. Guests with a dinner reservation generally receive access to the club afterward, although the exact conditions should always be confirmed when booking.

Despite its presence in many LGBTQ+ travel guides, SUPPER is not a dedicated gay club. Its regular audience is fashionable, international and mixed, and most club nights are organized around music or a specific party concept rather than sexual orientation. However, the venue has long embraced flamboyant performance, freedom of expression and a deliberately unconventional atmosphere. Drag artists and queer performers may appear in its shows, while special events can include drag brunches and Pride parties. During Amsterdam Pride, the venue often becomes considerably queerer, but travelers should check the agenda rather than assuming that every night attracts the same crowd.

Dinner is built around a chef’s tasting menu, with different options and several courses depending on the chosen package. Dietary requirements should be communicated during the reservation process. The food is part of a broader sensory production, so guests should come for the combination of cuisine, performance and atmosphere rather than expecting a quiet gastronomic examination of every plate. The white beds encourage conversation with neighboring guests and create a playful, intimate mood. Wearing good socks is practically part of the dress code, since shoes come off before settling in.

After dinner, the energy changes. The sound becomes louder, the dance floor takes over and the venue operates as a full nightclub. Current club programming generally runs from Thursday through Saturday, often from around 11 p.m. until 4 a.m., but opening times, admission prices and music styles vary by event. DJs may play house, disco, urban, Latin or international party music. Tickets and table reservations are recommended, particularly on weekends and during Pride.

SUPPER remains open and active in 2026. Gay travelers should consider it an LGBTQ+-friendly spectacle and mixed nightlife destination rather than a specifically gay address. It works particularly well for a birthday, a date or a group seeking something more theatrical than the usual dinner-and-drinks routine. Check the event calendar, dress with confidence and prepare for a night where dinner in bed is merely the opening act.
