Erotheek Schiedam

Erotheek Schiedam is a large adult shop and XXX cinema on the Rotterdam-Schiedam border, part well-stocked sex shop selling toys, fetish clothing, videos and magazines, part cruising venue with a busy gay play area down in the basement. It runs separate gay and hetero screening rooms, so it draws a genuinely mixed crowd, but the cruising downstairs is a long-standing fixture of the south-Holland gay scene, with a darkroom and cabins and, unusually, a shop where you can buy, change into and play in a sexy outfit all in one visit. Sunday is the main gay night (with funk and house on the sound system) and Thursday nights get busy too. It leans to a mature, mixed-age local crowd, and its come-one-come-all door policy makes it one of the few remaining cruising spots in the area.
