Fire

-
39 Parry St, SW8 1RT, London, United Kingdom

Fire is one of the best-known clubbing venues in Vauxhall, an area of South London that played a central role in the city’s gay nightlife for many years. Located beneath the railway arches at 39 Parry Street, just seconds from Vauxhall station, this large industrial-style complex has hosted some of London’s most famous LGBTQ+ parties. Fire is no longer an exclusively gay nightclub and its calendar now includes electronic music events, Latin parties, themed brunches and mainstream club nights. Nevertheless, major gay events such as Beyond and MEAT XXL continue to make it a significant destination for gay men looking for a serious night—or morning—on the dance floor.

The venue is built around several interconnected rooms beneath the arches. Exposed brickwork, tunnels, neon lighting and powerful sound systems give it a distinctly underground personality. Depending on the event, guests may have access to multiple dance floors, separate bars, VIP areas and an outdoor garden or drinks terrace. The neighbouring Lightbox space, known for its wall of LED lights, can also form part of larger productions. Not every room opens for every party, so the experience can feel either relatively concentrated or enormous according to the night.

Fire is particularly associated with after-hours clubbing. Beyond, one of London’s longest-running gay dance parties, regularly takes over the venue from Saturday night into Sunday morning. Its musical identity is generally centred on house, tech house and uplifting electronic sounds, delivered by rotating resident and guest DJs. The atmosphere is unapologetically intense: dark rooms, flashing lights, shirtless dancers and a crowd that has no intention of checking the first train home. MEAT XXL follows a similarly male-focused direction, combining DJs, muscular go-go performers and, at selected editions, a large adult play area.

The audience varies considerably according to the promoter. At Beyond and MEAT, expect a predominantly gay male crowd, with plenty of gym-toned clubbers, bears, muscle boys, international visitors and veterans of London’s after-hours scene. Other events at Fire may attract a mixed LGBTQ+ or largely straight audience. This is therefore one venue where checking the exact party matters more than simply checking the address. Turning up on the wrong night may deliver a completely different experience from the one described in a traditional gay guide.

There is no single dress code for the entire venue. Fire describes its general policy as casual, but individual promoters may impose their own requirements or encourage fetishwear, sportswear, harnesses or themed outfits. Hoods are not permitted in the queue. Large gay parties can operate advance ticketing, tiered admission prices and strict last-entry times. Buying a ticket before arriving is sensible, particularly during Pride, bank-holiday weekends and major special editions. All-night events can sell out or become very crowded.

Fire is an accessible venue overall, although its railway-arch layout means some areas involve steps and may not be wheelchair accessible. Guests with specific requirements should contact the venue in advance. As with any large late-night club, keep your belongings secure, watch your drinks and plan the journey home before the sensible part of your brain clocks out. Vauxhall station offers Underground, rail and bus connections, but services vary during the night.

Fire does not publish standard daily opening hours because it operates event by event. Always confirm the date, opening time, last admission and ticket conditions through Fire or the relevant promoter. For the right party, it remains one of London’s most powerful gay clubbing experiences: big sound, industrial arches, committed dancers and the deliciously dangerous possibility that Saturday night may quietly become Sunday afternoon.
