Roscoe's is one of Boystown's founding gay bars and still one of its most popular, a sprawling, welcoming institution that's anchored the corner of Halsted and Roscoe since 1987 and helped define the neighborhood as Chicago's gay main street. Part hangout, part dance club, it unfolds across five bar areas and multiple rooms: a laid-back front bar with big windows for people-watching on Halsted, a lively back-room dance floor, a pool table, food service, and a lovely summer patio. It's beloved for its famous drag shows, Saturday drag brunch, video screens, dueling pianos, Drag Race viewing parties, and unbeatable daily specials (dollar beers and Britney on Sundays are a rite of passage), drawing a fun, diverse, multi-generational crowd of gay guys, their friends, and everyone in between. It's had visits from Mick Jagger and a parade of Drag Race stars, and remains a genuine must-stop on any Boystown night out.
