Reaching the Pavilion is part of the adventure. From Manhattan, travelers usually take the Long Island Rail Road to Sayville, transfer to the ferry terminal and board the ferry to Fire Island Pines. Check the return ferry schedule carefully or arrange to stay overnight; missing the final boat after an ambitious night is not the kind of spontaneity everyone appreciates.
