Providence Eagle is the city's leather bar, an unassuming downtown dive marked by a huge painted eagle on Snow Street. It's the local outpost of the international Eagle bar family, and a more modern, easygoing version than some. A friendly leather and Levi's crowd, with plenty of bears and an older, local contingent, gathers for themed nights, dancing, drag, karaoke, and piano singalongs, with a backroom for those who want to explore. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the drinks are strong, and the bartenders get steady praise from regulars. It also hosts one of the best block parties of Rhode Island Pride, with an "Under the Stars" weekend that ends in a Sunday T-Dance. Small, a little niche, and proudly different from the other gay bars in town.
