Originally from Zacatecas, Mexico, Gustavo lives in Sacramento and works in healthcare. He enjoys hosting with misterb&b, and he's also your perfect guide to the queer side of Sacramento. Discover Lavender Heights, the gay area located in midtown, with its gay bars and clubs, and get lost in the beautiful scenery of The Valley. Explore Sacramento and experience your pride.
How gay-friendly is your city?
Sacramento is really gay-friendly and our community is rapidly growing. The gay area is Lavender Heights, and it is often revamped with new cool places popping up everywhere.

What are the best gay events that take place in your city each year?
There are really cool events throughout the year at the Broadway Sacramento Musical Theater. But the most important ones are: the Sacramento Gay Pride, which happens every second weekend of June, and Rainbow Festival and the Sacramento Camellia Softball Classic, which both take place over the Labor Day weekend.
We only have 48 hours in your city. What can’t we miss?
The sights and museums of Sacremento are considered to be the landmarks of this amazing city, so NO matter how long you’re staying, try to plan your trip around visiting them. Here are a few you really shouldn’t miss: California State Capitol, Old Sacramento Historic District, California State Railroad Museum, The Crocker Art Museum, Sutter’s Fort State History Park, American River and Folsom Lake.

What’s your favorite gay place to grab a bite for lunch? And for dinner?
Jack’s Urban Eats and Azul in Midtown Sacramento are the most popular gay-friendly restaurants. Sit there and enjoy the gaze of beautiful boys while having a nice meal. My personal favorites for dinner are: Paesanos Italian Restaurant, Zocalo Mexican Restaurant, and Azul Mexican Restaurant.
A gay place for brunch on weekends?
Cafeteria 15L, or otherwise Inked Eats & Drinks with their famous bottomless mimosas. Try not to go overboard though!

California State Capitol
Best gay place and day for a cheap beer or happy hour?
For strong but cheap drinks, you have to head to Mercantile Saloon.
We’re ready to party! What are the best gay clubs?
Lavender Heights has some clubs like Faces where you can dance to literally any kind of music. They have three different dance floors for whatever your poison might be. Badlands also has a great vibe if you want to dance your night away.

What are the best alternative gay bars and clubs where you live?
If you’re ready for some trouble, head to The Depot or Mercantile Saloon, or alteratively try The Bolt which is the only leather bar in Sacramento.
Are there any places related to LGBT history?
We have the Lavender Library, a staple for the LGBTQ community and the whole of Sacramento Valley.
Any beaches, parks or other worthy places to chill-out at?
Paradise Beach on the American River, which is close to Sacramento State University. Otherwise Folsom Lake, and different areas along the American River are popular too.

Where can we get the best view of Sacramento?
California State Capitol or Revival Rooftop Lounge at the Sawyer overlooking the new Golden One Arena. ●
