Iker·4·Jun. 2023· "The first thing I had to do upon arrival was pay a room supplement because the one I had booked was occupied. That doesn't seem very professional to me. If you've made a mistake in room management, it's your error, and you shouldn't make the customer pay for it. That's how I see it, but you arrive exhausted... and you don't argue. The towels... are an additional charge on top of the price."

His house is vibrant, yet cosy and situated in a peaceful area, which made for a very relaxing stay. The room was superb too, I was very happy with the amenities! I would highly recommend Michael and his place!"

The cottage was very private and the main house looked great but we never went in because we had all we needed."

Dennis·5·Dec. 2025· "Anyone is looking for a special something when traveling be it an experience, a location, or something off the beaten track look no farther as John & Robert offer you a Costa Rician experience not just a stay all within minutes of Manuel Antonio and the beaches.
Just outside the common gathering place within the house are rolling lawns filled with cacao, pineapple, chickens, etc. During our stay Robert gave us samples of cacao from his trees, fresh eggs for the chickens, and fresh milk from the neighbors farm. On top of that, the two of them prepared authentic Costa Rican breakfast from local ingredients. Wow. And if you sit in the rocking chairs on the 2nd floor veranda, the views of nature and the distant mountains are calming. With 5 of us traveling, and three AC rooms were were in private yet public bliss. J&R were fantastic ambassadors for MA Antonia and Costa Rica in general. They definitely went above and beyond to provide a very memorable experience. Even recommending and going us to a wonderful local gay owned restaurant.

Graeme·5·Aug. 2018· "A fantastic traditional French auberge run by two wonderful men. It's deep in the Ecrins National Park and to get there you go to "beyond" then head for the very back - it's remote! Fantastic walks from the doorstep with typical dramatic alpine botany and scenery.
Nicolas is your flirty friendly host and he deftly juggles plates and people at each mealtime, while Julien slaves away in the kitchen producing fantastic meals that are way above the usual heavy-duty alpine fare. Sadly we did not get to meet Julien but Nicolas was engaging and helpful despite his limited English and my limited French
They get pretty booked up in the school hols so we ended up with a twin room rather than a double but its really what could be expected from an auberge (hostel).
Go if you love nature and the alps. Don't go if you'd expect to nip into Grenoble for a quickie before dinner."
