To mark its arrival in Bilbao, Axel hosted an opening event as dynamic as the hotel itself. Under the theme “Let’s Do It By the River,” guests were treated to an immersive experience that included live performances, art installations, DJ sets, and tributes to iconic figures from Bilbao’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Highlights included a rooftop dance performance by artist Cachorro Lozano, as well as tributes to beloved local legends La Otxoa, Las Fellini, and Asier Etxeandía, each of whom now has a suite named in their honor. The evening was a true celebration of queer culture in all its forms—creative, expressive, and unapologetically proud.
