Magic Market 1

-
Tuskanova 22, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia

Just off Kvaternik Square, tucked into the Tuskanova strip, Magic Market 1 is proof that even a practical errand can come with a wink. This is the flagship of Zagreb's leading sex shop chain, and while it welcomes everyone, it's earned a real name for itself with the city's gay community, thanks to a stock list that actually thinks about what gay guys need, not just what's easy to shelve.

Walk in and you'll find the full range: toys for every skill level and curiosity threshold, lube in every formula you could reasonably want, leather and latex gear for anyone ready to lean into it, and a genuinely solid selection of erotic literature for the more old-school romantics among us. The staff know their inventory, which matters when you're trying to figure out the difference between products that sound suspiciously similar but very much are not. There's no judgment here, no smirking, no awkward pauses, just a shop that treats adult shopping like the normal, occasionally fun errand it should be.

For a city where Zagreb's LGBTQ+ scene has grown steadily since Croatia joined the EU, but still doesn't announce itself the way Berlin or Barcelona might, a place like Magic Market matters more than it might first appear. It's not hidden, it's not coded, it's simply there, doing its job well, treating gay clientele as a normal and valued part of the customer base rather than an afterthought. In a country where the scene is compact and community infrastructure has had to be built deliberately, that kind of straightforward, unfussy inclusion is worth appreciating.

Practically speaking, Magic Market 1 is easy to fold into a Zagreb weekend. It sits within reach of the city's Austro-Hungarian core, a short walk or tram ride from the Tkalčićeva strip where most of Zagreb's LGBTQ+ nightlife lives, and not far from Sauna Centar, Croatia's only gay sauna, if you're looking to make an afternoon of it. Stock up before a night out, pick up something for a date night at your accommodation, or just browse out of curiosity while exploring the city, there's no pressure either way.

Keep in mind the hours: open Monday to Friday from 10am to 8:30pm, Saturday from noon to 8:30pm, and closed on Sundays, so plan your visit around that if you're working with a tight itinerary.

Zagreb might not have the sprawling gay village some European capitals do, but what it has is real, and Magic Market 1 is a small but solid piece of that infrastructure, unpretentious, well-stocked, and genuinely glad to see you. Add it to your Zagreb plans, and pair it with LGBTQ+-friendly accommodation nearby through misterb&b for a trip that covers all your bases, in every sense of the word.
