Jack Nealons

Jack Nealon's is a handsome traditional pub on Capel Street, established in 1905 in a Georgian building with authentic Victorian fittings, plenty of dark wood, and a coal fire that's a treat in winter. It isn't billed as a gay bar, and you won't find rainbow flags or drag here, but sitting directly across the street from the iconic PantiBar, it's picked up a warm, understated gay reputation and become a genuine favorite with a bear and sporty crowd, "gay but not scene-queens," as one regular put it. Welcoming and unpretentious, with good pints, live music from time to time, and rugby and football on the big screens, it's the spot for a friendly, low-key pint among a mixed, easygoing crowd, and an easy warm-up before crossing over to Panti.
