Club Raum

Club Raum is Amsterdam's dedicated queer techno temple, the long-awaited permanent home of Spielraum, the legendary underground party that founders Diego Meijers and Sven Bijma launched in 2017 and grew into a cultural beacon of the city's queer nightlife (with collaborations stretching as far as Berlin's Berghain). After years fighting for the right space, they opened Club Raum in April 2024 in a former bookbindery in the industrial Westpoort district, far from the city-center bar strips but built exactly to their vision: a dark, immersive, two-room warehouse space with a big main dance floor and a more intimate room below, powered by forward-thinking electronic and techno DJs. The philosophy is right there in the name: room for queer expression, movement and connection, with a clear code of conduct built on consent, respect and zero judgment (phone cameras get covered with a sticker at the door to protect that freedom). There's no strict fetish dress code, but the crowd — club kids, ravers, artists, and international visitors — comes for genuine self-expression over convention. An unmissable, one-of-a-kind addition to queer Amsterdam.
