Colorado Springs' LGBTQ+ home, the Retro Lounge sits inside the historic Satellite Hotel and was founded by Michael Anderson and Tara Bush — two survivors of the 2022 Club Q shooting — as a new gathering place for the city's queer community. More relaxed lounge than late-night club, it hosts drag shows, drag bingo, karaoke, and comedy in a warm, all-are-welcome space, and was named the city's "Best New Bar" soon after opening. A painted tribute to the five lives lost at Club Q, framed by messages from the community, greets you at the entrance — remembrance and resilience are part of its DNA. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Colorado Springs, it's both the heart of the local scene and a living testament to a community that refused to be defined by tragedy.
