About the Place

Enjoy the private use of this beautifully renovated home built in 1870 blocks away from everything in historic Berkeley Springs, WV (aka, the Town of Bath). Congress House includes:
-- ********iquely appointed bedrooms (two queens, one double, one with trundle twins) -- all with premium mattresses and bedding
-- Two full bathrooms, each with a 1920s restored clawfoot tub, plus another half bath on the first floor
-- A full kitchen with all the amenities
-- The Library that includes an original working fireplace
-- The Salon where you can relax surrounded by comfort and art
-- A formal dining room with fine china and seating for 8
-- A backyard garden (under renovation) with a deck and gazebo overlooking the creek that runs through town and is fed by our natural springs

Congress House is just 1-1/2 blocks from the main drag in town. From the front door, all the town has to offer is just steps away -- but far enough from the bustle to allow you privacy.

-- A block away is The Cardinal Bar -- managed by our dear friends ******** and Zack who are regular users of misterb&b for their travels. They have been watching us renovate this special place and told us to let folks know we are allies who want to give you a safe and loving place to enjoy our special town. The Town of Bath is a place of contrasts -- lots of history, interesting things to do and see, quirky shops, culinary delights, and a small but vocal LGBTQ+ community that is very supportive of our guests.

The Town of Bath (the heart of Berkeley Springs) was established in 1776. George Washington owned property here. There is a town museum with lots of interesting history and a very popular bath house that has existed in one form or another for hundreds of years (reserve ahead -- it's often booked up). Berkeley Springs boasts a warm spring that flows at 74.3F year round. Native Americans frequented this special place before European settlers arrived. Lots more information about the town is available at ********

We have a Ring doorbell with a camera at the front door -- there are no other security cameras or listening devices in the house.

The Cardinal Bar is about 100 steps away and is open every day of the year from Noon to 2am. Managed by ******** and Zack, they and their bartenders provide great service and the best hot dogs you've ever had. Just be prepared for a lot of wiener jokes from Zack.

Across from the Cardinal Bar is Creekside Provisions + Supplies. Jeff and Sam have created a charming cafe with delicious food, lots of cool stuff for the sophisticated traveler, and an art gallery.

There are many other LGBTQ-friendly shops that we will list for you in a ******** Doc we are constantly updating for our guests that we will share once you make a reservation.

Property Rules

This home was built circa 1870 and has undergone renovations over the last 150 years, but still retains a historic vibe. We've taken great efforts to make the space inviting and beautiful -- including walls full of original art from around the world and fine china. In other words, the space is not kid-proof -- lots of breakables throughout, so if you're considering a family trip, please keep this in mind.

We do have conservative neighbors who will not be a bother, but please respect their privacy.
