The Space This comfy double-room in a quiet residential street is just 7 minutes’ walk from Leytonstone underground station. You will have exclusive use of your own bathroom and a kitchen too. This is an ideal place to retreat to after sightseeing in London, taking in a show or walking in nearby Epping Forest.

The room has a double bed, wardrobe, TV and views over surrounding gardens. The kitchenette has all you should need for a short stay, while the bathroom has a bath with shower over. There is WiFi & paid on-street parking.

Travel and things to do and see in and around Leytonstone There is fast & easy access to Central London (30 mins) via Liverpool Street main line station, West End theatres & all the major tourist attractions.

The major transport hub of Stratford (Central, Jubilee & Elizabeth Lines, DLR, mainline trains, and the Mildmay Line to Richmond, Kew and Clapham) is just 2 stops away. Back to Ours is a recent community-led café & arts venue & there’s an environmental Refill Shop offering Sunday lunches. With the local residents’ card there are discounts to be had.

There are plenty of places for simply walking (or jogging) The open space of Wanstead Flats, Bush Wood start at the end of the road, while historic Wanstead Park and Epping Forest are nearby. There is a very popular 5k ParkRun each Saturday, and a PureGym right on the high street.

I’m generally around the house or local area should you need anything or want tips on what to do and see in and around London. There are no pets to worry you.

Lastly, why Hitchcock Retreat? The famous film director Alfred Hitchcock was born in Leytonstone in 1899. You’ll find tasteful nods to his films in the few pictures and posters in your rooms, as well as a couple of biographies and novels that inspired his films. You might eat in the Hitchcock Hotel or down a pint in The Birds Pub, stream one of his films, or make a pilgrimage to his birthplace.

I extended my stay at Hitchcock Retreat for an additional day because I had a slight change of plan in London. David accommodated my last-minute request quickly. I left the house early in the morning - just before 7 a.m to catch a train. David was already up and we got the opportunity to say goodbye to each other. It's the perfect ending to my stay in London. Although I needed to catch my train in quite a rush, the morning walk to the Leytonstone tube station was a little cold but refreshing in the drizzle, reminding me again the lovely neighbourhood and what a fantastic time I had in London - with Hitchcock Retreat being a very important part of it.

I enjoyed my stay at Hitchcock’s Retreat very much. Everything I needed during my stay was there; and they were of high quality. The place was immaculate: clean, tidy, spacious and of great condition. The place looked exactly like what it looked like in the photographs, if not better- what I could not see in the photographs could be even more precious, such as the delicious marmalade, the morning coffee, the wonderful hot shower and the comfortable bed. The location was convenient- just a short walk to the Leytonstone tube station and a few bus stops, both of which I took advantage. I liked the neighbourhood, which gave me a strong sense of community and kindness. David is a kind, friendly and considerate gentleman who gave me the time and space to enjoy myself at this great place, while remaining communicative during my stay. I had the privilege to enjoy a coffee and a chat with him in a neighbourhood cafe, and he showed me around the vicinity as well. I stayed out fairly late every night as I went to concerts and performances. I felt safe walking back to the house and I actually quite enjoyed the night stroll. I cannot recommend the Hitchcock Retreat enough. It’s truly a home away from home- thanks, David.
