Private Room with own Bathroom in the Heart of Hillcrest

Darren and his husband were perfect hosts. Their apartment is located in the heart of Hillcrest just a couple minutes walk to all of the stores, shops and restaurants. The apartment is extremely neat and clean. Our room was a nice size with an extremely comfortable bed - great pillows and very nice linens. There is plenty of closet space and even a foldaway desk for a laptop and a small under counter refrigerator. The bathroom was just across the hall and only for our use. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. It was well stocked with anything you night need or have forgotten to bring. Darren had just up dated the bathroom with all new fixtures (faucets, towel bars etc.) with nice black finished ones. They do have a large dog - Crispy - a gentle giant who is well behaved and did not bother us at all. Check in was very smooth and Darren answered all questions that we had. Another plus - Darren provides parking which is important in Hillcrest or anywhere you are staying in San Diego. I would not hesitate booking again with Darren on our next trip to San Diego.

This is my second time staying here, and it definitely won't be my last! As I said in my last review, everything was great! Below is a copy and paste from last time, but I can't think of any way to say it better!! Darren communicated well in advance of my stay. Instructions were clear and detailed. Check-in was a breeze and Darren was very accomodating to allow me to drop my bags off early! I have stayed in many places between misterbnb and other services and have never had a host think of as many small details as Darren. He has so many amenities...everything from robes to toiletries to coffee pods, etc. You can tell he pays attention to small details and has no doubt listened carefully to past guests. The location of this unit is also amazing. It is right in the heart of Hillcrest so you can walk to all the restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. If you do want to leave the immediate area, the dedicated parking spot means you don't need to worry about parking when you get back. Finally, Darren is friendly and engaging and Crispy is quiet, well-behaved and happy to be loved! The only reaon not to book this location is if you want the same dates I do for the next time I come back! I give Darren's place my highest recommendation!

From seamless booking to an all-too-quick departure, my stay was exceptional. Darren is a truly outstanding host—thoughtful, experienced, and incredibly detail-oriented—having clearly considered everything needed for a comfortable and welcoming stay. The room and bathroom were spotless, quiet, and comfortable (with great bed and pillow options), and the location is perfect—central to Hillcrest with no car needed. Check-in was easy, communication was clear and prompt, and the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between welcoming and discreet. I also enjoyed meeting Ryan and Crispy, and appreciated the great local recommendations—highly recommended and would happily return.

From our initial booking to our, far too quick departure, Darren, Ryan and Crispy were the 5* hosts. Communication about the property was clear, accurate and quick. Absolutely everything about our stay had been considered, even things that we hadn't thought of! The property is spotlessly clean and central to the 'main drag' of Hillcrest, you won't need a car to explore this area. We only stayed 1 night owing to our schedule but will happily return in the future. Thanks for the recommendations and being such great hosts.

Very pleasant stay; the room with fridge and private bathroom. the property with direct access to the Balcony. All comfortable and very quiet. Location is just perfect, host discreet and friendly. I warmly recommend to enjoy the best of Hillcrest.

Darren is a fantastic host. The amount of care he puts into all the little details and the amount of deep cleaning measures he takes to ensure a very clean environment before a guest arrives are amazing. I also enjoyed meeting Ryan, and Crispy! Very conveniently located, easy instructions for everything, and Darren is a very interesting person who is great to talk to and had many helpful suggestions while I was there. I would definitely recommend.
