“While my first encounter at the Winsor was not great - the hotel clerk misgendered me despite the fabulous dress, hair, makeup, etc - the remainder of the stay was pretty good, and the value for money was amazing. It's Spartan - a bed to rest in for a few hours a night and little else, but for the price I wasn't expecting more. The supposedly-horrid neighborhood is a bit depressing, but not actually scary if you are used to being around unhoused persons, opioid addicts, etc, and have some common sense. Clerk got my gender right after two polite corrections, so I'm not holding that against him, but it was a weird start to the stay. Overall recommended by a NYC trans girlie who's not afraid of the seedy side of town.”

Winsor Hotel provided a clean, centrally located, public transit accessible, economical place to sleep while I spent the days and evenings exploring San Francisco. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the 24hr entry system felt secure. My room contained a private shower, toilet and sink which were all clean, recently remodeled and functioning. While the room was spartan, the bed was comfortable and the wifi worked well. Be aware that daily and nightly street noise of the tenderloin and soma districts is not filtered out very well by the older walls and large windows. This was an issue I could accommodate and did not pose a problem, along with the people loitering the streets of the area. I definitely recommend Winsor Hotel if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city and need a clean, comfortable, economical place to crash and refresh.
