My latest trip to Sri Lanka allowed me to explore its many unique facets—can’t wait to tell you all about it.
According to human rights and LGBTQ+ organizations, sexual orientation and gender identity are criminalized/marginalized in this destination. It might not be the safest place for LGBTQ+ travelers, who are advised to refrain from any public display of affection and remain careful.

Paul·5·Aug. 2025· "Raj is the sweetest host imaginable. Nothing is too much trouble for him, and he does everything to make you feel comfortable. He prepares a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and a wonderful omelet, and his Sri Lankan rice and curry is also delicious. The garden is very inviting, full of beautiful tropical plants. Evenings are also very lively with karaoke and dancing, Raj is a real entertainer! It's also a wonderful place for naturists. I highly recommend Raj Mahal Inn and my deepest gratitude goes out to Raj for a wonderful and magical stay!"

Brock·5·Feb. 2023· "Fabulous stay at Gomez Place. Really beautiful and quiet compound with lots of plants and flowers. We loved the indoor/outdoor shower in our room. Breakfast was great with nice fresh fruit. Service was excellent from beginning to end. Gomez is a great host - we always felt well taken care of. Short walk to the beach and to restaurants. Really this was one of our top experiences, ever and we have travelled a lot."

The central location made getting around the city to various attractions easy either as a short walk, or taking a three-wheeler. A small cafe attached offered good Sri Lankan food. I began my day there each morning. The management and staff were always ready and willing to assist and cared for my well-being and comfort. They were polite, helpful and fun, indeed they are the charm of this listing."

Eddy·5·Jun. 2025· "Struggled to find the entrance on arrival, but once you know it is on the beach front then you're welcomed by Pathum and all is well!
Ideal place for me to regroup, recharge and relaxed!! Loved it! And again, Pathum is a great host, 24/7 mind you so don't call him during the day (his sleeping time). Nothing is too much for him, really; just ask (and be nice please!).
Property is within walking distance of the town center (shops, restaurants, markets, lagoon...), the canal (nice to walk along instead of noisy busy main road) and a 24hr little grocery shop (opposite the church).
I got the room on the beach front, so I had sea therapy for 2 days. Amazing!
PS: despite being relatively safe to swim, I would not recommend because of what goes into the water ... realised after I did it, but am still alive and well! Lol"

Anthony·4·Aug. 2024· "Hendy bungalow was an ideal place for me to immerse myself in local culture, food and people. Far enough away from tourist spots to be quiet and truly local. Dishan was extremely hospitable is introducing me to local foods and everyday life. He has a good command of English and was very helpful in sharing local information about where to go and what to do. His wife, children, mother and aunty are such kind and gracious people. Clients of this site need to be aware that information and all communication on this site is with a Belgian national not Dishan. It was disconcerting that only some of my messages were passed to Dishan."

Philippe·4·Jul. 2025· "First point is the difference of price proposed for one night requested by misterbandb and paid (43 euros) and by booking.com (17 USD). That means that next time I will check first the accommodations rented by gay owners on misterbandb then I will book on booking.com or other sites. This is really unfair.
This said, the place is quite, very silent and M. Viraj who takes care of the house and welcomes customers is a very nice and helpful guy.
I would like to suggest to have at least one room with AC and also to provide a tuk-tuk to Viraj. He will be able to transport customers when they need to go to the city or to the beach and bring food. His motorbike is not sufficient for that."
