British owned, Serendipity has been fully refurbished and modernised. Our beautiful house is set in a tranquil and green location, just 3.5km (2 miles) from Weligama town centre and the local beaches - a 10 minute drive in a tuk tuk. It makes a great base for exploring the south coast.
We offer 3 double rooms (one with an additional sofa bed), a 10m (32') pool and a massage/meditation/yoga hut. Our housekeeper, Viraj, lives a few miles away but will be there regularly to clean and cook and help you out.
Set in a quiet 'jungle' village location, Serendipity offers you peace, relaxation and privacy away from the hustle and bustle of the town and the noise of the trains, buses and traffic and the nightly beach parties. Yet these can easily be reached whenever you fancy a shopping trip, an excursion or a day or night out.
With an abundance of fruit, veg and spices in the garden, water fresh from our own well and solar powered hot water, we offer an eco-friendly venue that avoids putting a drain on local resources. We're slightly elevated and thus a little cooler than the town. All of our rooms are sheltered from direct sunlight, helping to keep them cooler even on the warmest of nights.
All of our guest bedrooms are fitted-out with wooden furniture that has been hand-made by local craftsmen. Each has a ceiling fan, a light dimmer switch, that essential bedside table and lamp, a mirror, a mosquito net and two fitted USB charger points for your convenience.
During your visit, you can chill out on our sunbeds, take a dip in our pool and then enjoy a refreshing shower beneath the rays of the tropical sun or under the silvery moonlight. We also have a TV available, and a strong wi-fi signal.
We have two bicycles available for your use. There's also our massage 'hut' with a custom-made massage bed. This space can be used for meditation, yoga or - obviously - for a relaxing massage by our on-call local masseur.
Our food and drinks menu can be tailored to suit your own particular preferences and tastes. As well as our inclusive breakfast, we have a versatile lunch and dinner menu for whenever required, or we can arrange for a tuk-tuk to drop you at one of the many eateries in town or along the local beaches. Motor scooters can also be hired in nearby Weligama.
We believe that our quiet ‘out of town’ location makes Serendipity the perfect place to experience an uncomplicated stay. Amidst all the surrounding nature, it’s easy to forget the day to day worries that are still troubling the world. That is our aim during your visit.
Please note: Gavin is currently in the UK until mid-Autumn 2025. In the meantime, you will be looked after by our experienced housekeeper, Viraj

First point is the difference of price proposed for one night requested by misterbandb and paid (43 euros) and by booking.com (17 USD). That means that next time I will check first the accommodations rented by gay owners on misterbandb then I will book on booking.com or other sites. This is really unfair. This said, the place is quite, very silent and M. Viraj who takes care of the house and welcomes customers is a very nice and helpful guy. I would like to suggest to have at least one room with AC and also to provide a tuk-tuk to Viraj. He will be able to transport customers when they need to go to the city or to the beach and bring food. His motorbike is not sufficient for that.
Many thanks for your review. I think there was some confusion over the pricing, as it was stated to me on Misterbandb that you had paid 31 Euros and we only received 25 euros from them. Perhaps there are some hidden fees...? Prices vary slightly on different booking sites as they encourage hosts to use different incentives such as for last-minute bookings, etc. At the moment our standard rate on Booking.com is US$29 (25 euros), but it depends on when you book. We are trying to help Viraj get a tuk tuk, but we can organise other drivers for guests. We are glad you enjoyed his services.
