Important information related to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic
The first Taiwan LGBTQ Pride was held in 2003. Since then, Taiwan Gay Pride has had one mission: to organize a Pride Parade for Taiwan's LGBTQ community every year and give voice to their rights.
Every last Saturday in October, Taipei hosts the biggest gay pride parade of Asia, welcoming an estimated 80,000 people each year. Many Asian countries are not as gay-friendly as Taiwan. As such, the Taiwan Gay Pride Parade attracts thousands and thousands of gays from neighboring countries like China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, just to name a few. This creates a truly international experience, and gives gays from all around the world the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.
Bear in mind that this is the event program for 2019. Stay tuned for the 2020 program for Taiwan Pride, coming soon. The Taiwan Gay Pride Parade 2019 will kick off at 2pm from the Taipei City Hall Square, then will move its way through the streets of Taipei before finishing up at the Gay Village (Kaidagelan Boulevard) for a huge party. The procession generally lasts for two hours, so be sure to come with plenty of energy and party spirits.
The Gay Village is a lively conclusion to the pride parade, and here you can expect a range of entertainment including local celebrities. The area also features plenty of stalls with local charities and organizations relating to the local LGBTQ community. But it won't be just the parade that will make Taiwan Gay Pride 2019 so iconic. Along with this, you can look forward to loads of different Pride parties taking place across the city for the entire weekend, including Circuit Parties and the popular party held at the W Hotel Taiwan.
