The gods are done being perfect—and maybe we should be too.
With the much-anticipated opening of Axel Beach Mykonos, the iconic LGBTQIA+ hotel chain Axel Hotels is bringing more than just sunshine and sea views to the Greek isles. They're bringing a bold new message: perfection is overrated. And it’s about time.
Breaking the Mold with “Gods, Leave Olympus”
To mark their arrival on one of the world’s most glamorous islands, Axel Hotels launched a provocative campaign titled “Gods, Leave Olympus.” It's a striking mythological allegory that reimagines the gods of ancient Greece not as stoic, flawless deities, but as living, breathing beings who—just like us—are tired of being frozen in perfection.
Directed by creatives Kike Doatis and Eric Monteagudo, the campaign strips down centuries of expectations. Imagine statues coming to life, not to fight wars or command thunder, but to twerk, kiss, and playfully reclaim their humanity. Painted in white and once locked on pedestals, these gods abandon their marble prisons to celebrate freedom, representation, and joy.
As Doatis explains, “This is a campaign for everyone who’s ever felt the pedestal was too high.” And for a generation raised on social media’s algorithm-fed ideals of beauty and success, that message hits home.

A Hotel That’s More Than Just a Hotel
Axel Beach Mykonos isn’t just another luxury property—it’s a five-star sanctuary that celebrates authenticity over aesthetics. The hotel’s minimalist white exterior pays homage to classic Cycladic architecture, but inside, expect a vibrant contrast of color, personality, and space to just be yourself.
No staged breakfast shots or filtered poolside perfection in this campaign—because that’s not the point. Axel Hotels is offering more than beautiful rooms; they’re offering room to breathe.

Perfect Timing, Perfect Place
Launching during Pride Month, the opening of Axel Beach Mykonos reinforces the brand’s long-standing mission: freedom, respect, and diversity. Since 2003, Axel Hotels has been at the forefront of inclusive hospitality, and this new opening deepens its Mediterranean footprint following recent success in Bilbao. Valencia and Porto are just around the corner.
Albert Olivé, CEO of Axel Hotels, sums it up best: “We’ve grown with the community, and that’s made us question and learn a lot. Each campaign we do helps us understand who we are and where we want to go.”

But more importantly, it’s a reminder: You don’t have to be a god to enjoy paradise—and even the gods are tired of pretending to be perfect.Leave Olympus.
