The Volksgarten Pavillon is a charming seasonal garden pavilion set in Vienna's historic Volksgarten park by Heldenplatz, a relaxed open-air café serving homemade pastries and drinks under the trees by day and hosting a busy summer calendar of DJ and party nights. For the LGBTQ+ crowd it matters as the home of Männer im Garten ("Men in the Garden"), one of Vienna's best-loved gay open-air parties, running for over a decade and taking over the leafy pavilion once a month, on the first Saturday from around 11pm, with guest DJs, drag shows and pop and chart hits for a crowd of gay, lesbian, queer, trans and non-binary revelers and allies. Open only through the warmer months, it also served as the official Eurovision Queer Hub when the contest came to Vienna, so it's worth checking the calendar and timing your visit to a party night.
