Three Dollar Bill is Parkdale's queer bar, a community room first and a party second, run by owners Castle, Maro and Meaghan, who are genuinely present on the floor every night. Named after the old phrase "queer as a three dollar bill," it's one long, thoughtfully designed room, tables up front for people-watching through the windows, plenty of bar seating, and a lounge-y back section with a DJ booth, with washrooms downstairs that pass a commissioned mural by cartoonist Eric Kostiuk Williams mapping out Toronto's queer history. One signature drink, The Departed, honors the late Sandy De Almeida, a beloved member of the Toronto queer community, with a dollar from every one sold going to CAMH. The vibe is chill yet lively, with expertly mixed cocktails, dance parties, drag shows, karaoke, and trivia nights drawing a mostly 20s-to-40s west-end crowd who didn't feel like trekking to Church Street. Zero dress code — from sweats to full glam, everyone's welcome at this genuinely inclusive west-end staple.
