Restaurant 1733 is a warm, unpretentious ode to classic Danish cooking, beautifully set by Slotsholmen's Canal overlooking Christiansborg in a historic building that was once designer Kay Bojesen's toy workshop. Open since 2018 and often cited as Copenhagen's only gay restaurant, it serves traditional Danish fare with a modern touch, open-faced smørrebrød at lunch, herring, roast pork, and hearty mains at dinner, all homemade from fresh local ingredients and served family-style on shared platters. Flying the rainbow flag with pride, its cheeky, friendly staff and generous portions keep both locals and travelers coming back.
