Garbo is a Puerto Vallarta institution, an elegant gay piano and martini bar in the heart of Zona Romántica, opened in 2002 and still going strong. Its name comes from the Spanish "tener garbo," roughly "to carry oneself with a certain elegance," and the bar lives up to it: sophisticated, air-conditioned, and candlelit, with comfortable seating built for actual conversation rather than shouting over a DJ. The draw is live music every night from 10:30pm, a rotating weekly lineup of jazz, Latin, Broadway and classical tunes, paired with an extensive two-page martini menu and daily drink deals. Popular with a more mature, mostly gay crowd (though genuinely straight-friendly), it's the perfect earlier-evening stop for those who'd rather sip a cocktail and enjoy a show tune than dance under strobe lights. A classy, beloved fixture of the PV scene.
